Hospital disputes network coverage

December 18, 2013

Adams Memorial Hospital officials have announced that information provided to hundreds of area senior citizens from United Healthcare concerning physicians covered in their Medicare Advantage Plan was partially incorrect.
AMH chief financial officer Dane Wheeler said United Healthcare members, including AARP  Medicare Complete, were informed via mail recently that Adams County physicians were no longer considered providers for their plans and they would have to seek new physicians if they wished to be covered.
In a prepared statement, Wheeler emphasized that “Adams Memorial Hospital and its owned physicians would like to correct the record by informing members that we are still approved as ‘in-network’ providers for United Healthcare’s Medicare Advantage Plans, including AARP Medicare Complete — a popular plan in Adams County — and those physicians are accepting new patients.”
