The Hope Chest, 127 S. 2nd St. in Decatur, hosted its first annual Pajama Fun Day on Tuesday, with members of the community invited to shop in their hair rollers, bathrobes and slippers. One customer even added a little white cold cream cleanser to her ensemble.
Guests who participated had the opportunity to have their pictures taken and be entered into a contest to win a gift certificate to the store. The pictures will be displayed in the store through the end of the month, and people may vote (for a penny per vote) on the best Pajama Fun Day outfit for first-, second- and third-place gift certificate prizes of $20, $15 and $10, respectively.
Customers who attended the special day also had the opportunity to win one of two boxes of chocolates, regardless of their attire.
Hope Chest Manager Tammy Smith said, “Thank you to all of the people who came out to support our charity. It was a lot of fun.”
Smith added that she plans to make the Pajama Fun Day an annual event.
According to Smith, The Hope Chest has been helping Adams County residents in need for 23 years. The store sells clothing in a variety of sizes, in addition to household goods, shoes, coats, school supplies and more. All of the sale proceeds go toward helping those in need.
The Hope Chest is currently accepting donations of spring and summer clothes. To make a donation of any type, visit the store during its regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
