Hoosier Pattern and Fleetwood to be honored

The Decatur Chamber of Commerce has named Hoosier Pattern Inc, as its 2012 Small Business of the Year and Fleetwood RV as the 2012 Large Business of the Year.
Each year the Chamber names an outstanding company that has demonstrated a high degree of community involvement and good corporate citizenship to this honor., the Chamber said in a news release.
The awards will be presented at the Chamber's annual dinner on Thursday, February 7, at the Mirage Banquet Hall in Decatur. Tickets are $25 per person and may be reserved by calling the Chamber office, 724-2604; reservations must be received by Monday, January 21, officials said.
In 1997, Hoosier Pattern, Inc., a pattern shop specializing in tooling for the foundry industry, was founded by Keith Gerber and two partners in a 3,500-square foot facility with one employee.  In July of 2009, Gerber became the sole owner.
Hoosier Pattern has continued to grow and now consists of 25 employees who work in a newly-renovated 45,000 square foot facility.
Gerber has 30 years of pattern-making experience. In high school, he enjoyed working with metal, and design and drafting classes.  After graduating, he decided to further his education at Ivy Tech in Fort Wayne, where he earned an associates degree in machine tool technology.  He started his first full-time job at a pattern shop/foundry in Fort Wayne, completing his apprenticeship there and spending a total of 13 years with the company.
Gerber is proud of his employees and says, “Without them, Hoosier Pattern would not be successful and where we are today.  With a highly trained staff, modern equipment and continued advances in cutting-edge technology, we are able to set ourselves apart from our competitors.  We take our motto of 'On Time Delivery' seriously, and it is the objective of every job that we do”.

Fleetwood RV, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of Class A and Class C recreational vehicles. Driven by its commitment to innovation, quality and value, the Chamber said the company is a recognized leader in the motorhome segment and manufactures some of the industry’s most iconic brand names, such as American Coach, Discovery and Bounder.
The company has one of the best and longest standing distribution networks in the industry.
Fleetwood RV is headquartered in Decatur which is also home to its manufacturing facilities.
In July of 2009, American Industrial Partners Capital Fund IV, L.P. (AIP) completed the acquisition of the motorized recreational vehicle business of Fleetwood Enterprises, Inc and established Fleetwood RV, Inc. In early 2011, the company joined Allied Specialty Vehicles, Inc.
The company currently employs 1,100 employees.
Fleetwood RV, Inc, arose from the ashes of Fleetwood Enterprises, a company that lead the RV industry for more than 60 years and was previously headquartered in California.  Now located exclusively in Decatur, the entrepreneurial spirit of the company has led to three years of consistent growth in market share within a marginal motorhome segment, the Chamber release said.
