Hobert M. Spencer

    Hobert M. Spencer, 89, of Preble, died Friday, December 21, 2012, at Oakbrook Village in Huntington.
    He was born in Decatur on April 7, 1923, to the late Harry A. and Sina R. (Johnson) Spencer.
    Hobert married Vera L. Affolder on June 27, 1942; she survives in Preble.
    He attended Salem United Church of Christ in Magley. He was a member of the American Legion Post 43 and the Masonic Lodge 571, and served during World War II in the U.S. Air Force.
    Among survivors are three sons, Roger (Charlotte) Spencer of Decatur, Robert Spencer of Preble and Rex (Jill) Spencer of Bluffton; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
    He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Spencer.
    A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 27, at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home, with calling from 9-11 a.m. prior to service.
    Preferred memorials are to Family Life Care.
