It came down to the final two matches, and the Jets’ Eli Hill at 106 and Andy Oliver at 113 pounds sealed the deal, delivering yet another championship into the hands of the Adams Central wrestling program as the host Jets downed Brownsburg 37-30 in the title match of the Adams Central Super Dual Saturday.

“The meet started at 120, so it came down to those final two matches and we had to win them both,” explained Adams Central coach Doug Schultz.
“Eli beat his kid 6-3 and Oliver stuck his. All the kids wrestled well and handled things they way that I had hoped they would.”
The Jets earned their way to the final against Brownsburg by sweeping their pool, including a 43-33 win over Fort Wayne Snider. The Jets rolled by Bluffton 75-6 and topped Jay County 44-27, then blasted long time rival Bishop Dwenger, the No. 2 team in the opposite pool. The Jets led that match 38-0 and won 50-18.
“Brownsburg pretty well handled everybody on the day, and about identical way that we did, beating Dwenger and Jay the by same margins, plus they had wrestled South Putnam and had the same point spread as we did,” pointed out Schultz on one of AC’s foes in the coaches association state tourney two weeks prior.
Brownsburg is a large school, playing 5A football near Indianapolis. Former Mishawaka head coach Darrick Snyder is an assistant for the squad.
Helping the Jets take out the Bulldogs were stalwarts Oliver, Cody Walburn at 126, Derek Ellinger at 138, Zac Yoder at 145, Ben Pfister at 182 and 132-pounder Hunter Bates. All went 5-0 on the day.
Walburn won 11-0 over Austen Arnold and Bates blanked his foe 5-0 to put the Jets up 7-6. Derek Ellinger scored a 5:08 fall over Johnny Cimmerman. Yoder stopped Arkee Glover in 3:46 as the Jets led Brownsburg 19-6. Luke Liter yielded an escape, but could not shake loose in period three, losing 1-0 to CJ Damler of Brownsburg. Kaine Luginbill felled Lois Avila in 51 seconds.
Pfister scored a third-period takedown to beat rated Connor Ludwig 3-2. The Bulldogs won the next three matches, two by fall, to take a 30-28 lead. Hill scored a reversal and takedown in period two to beat Nick Weaver. Oliver routed Zack Gentry in 3:20 to finish off the Dawgs.
The Jets finished the meet at 18-3 on the season. “It was a fun, highly competitive dual at the end. We were behind and just chipping away the whole time. It was fun,” said Schultz.
