Heritage Festival set Saturday
The annual Berne Heritage Festival will be held at Swiss Heritage Village and Museum in that city this Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Numerous activities are scheduled, including children's games, "old-timers activities," wool-spinning, butter-churning, corn-shelling by a hand-cranked device, living history demonstrations, pioneer activities, sawmill demonstrations, an 1840s-style trading camp, and a Civil War camp.
Also, artisans will demonstrate how early settlers made rope, cut logs, washed clothes, quilted blankets, and made cheese.
The Edwards Family Gospel Singers, the Brass Image Band, and Swiss accordionist Arthur Brogli will provide entertainment.
The world's largest cider press will be used for a "big squeeze" at 3 p.m., according to a news release.
Food and beverages will also be available.
Admission is $1 for children, $3 for adults. Those with a Swiss membership pass may enter free.
