Herbert J. Pearson

    Herbert J. Pearson, 80, of Decatur, died at 8:10 p.m. Thursday at his residence.    He was born on November 12, 1930, on Huntington to Edward Cary and Ruby Josephine Bailey Pearson.
    He married Jeannine L. Simon Wright on August 4, 1989, in Fort Wayne and she survives.
    Herbert retired from the Erie Railroad with 35 years of service as a signalman. He was a member of American Legion Post 43 in Decatur and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6751 in Geneva.
    He was a graduate of Huntington High School in 1949 and served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War.
    Other survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Michael Ann Pearson Kuss of Walkerton, Indiana; three stepsons, Ronald T. Wright (and wife Kim) of Decatur, C. Thomas Wright of Fort Wayne, and Tim Sands (and wife Ginny) of Decatur; one sister, Mrs. Don (Marjorie) Ramsey of Huntington; one brother, Rex Pearson (and wife Marsha) of Huntington; three grandchildren, Amber Jean Kuss, Lauren Marie Kuss, and Olivia Janet Kuss; and seven stepgrandchildren: Ronald James Wright, Samantha Elizabeth Wright, Shelby Kate Wright, Patrick Anthony Wright, Henry Jack Wright, Sophia Ann Wright, and Christine Suzanne Wright.
    He was preceded in death by one daughter, Julie Lynn Pearson, in July of 2000, and two brothers, Jerry and Robert Pearson.
    Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, with Rev. Marcia Cline and Rev. Laura Sherwood officiating.
    Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery at Lancaster, Indiana, with military graveside services by the color guard of American Legion Post 43.
    Visiting hours are 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday in Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur.
    Preferred memorials are to the Make-A-Wish Foundation or to Family Hospice and Palliative Care of Northeast Indiana, at Berne.
