Herbert E. Fruchte

    Herbert Eugene "Herb" Fruchte, 81, of Monroe, died at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday at home of natural causes.
    He was born on December 2, 1929, in Decatur to Albert and Elma Christman Fruchte.
    He married Clisty Rich on August 6, 1950; she survives.
    He graduated from Decatur High School in 1947 and was the second person hired at the CTS Corp. plant in Berne, where he had a long career as an engineer from 1959 until retirement.
    After retiring, he assisted and supported Bi-County Services.
    He was also active in the Monroe United Methodist Church, including serving on the board of trustees, and was a former member of the Monroe Lions Club.
    Other survivors are one son, Keith Fruchte of Monroe; two daughters, Karen Bollenbacher of Decatur and Mrs. Scott (Connie) Sprunger of Berne; one brother, Don Fruchte of Decatur; three grandchildren, Kristina Sprunger Dudgeon and Allison Sprunger of Berne and  Jennifer Sprunger Gilbert of Monroe; and two great-grandchildren, Lauren Dudgeon and Austin Dudgeon of Berne.    
    One brother, Roger Fruchte, and two sisters, Juanita Wasson and Margaret Fruchte, are deceased.
    Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Monroe United Methodist Church, with Pastor Eric Stoops officiating.
    Burial will be in Ray Cemetery, rural Monroe.
    Visiting hours are 2-8 p.m. Thursday and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday in the church.
    Preferred memorials are to Monroe United Methodist Church.
    Funeral arrangements were by Thoma, Rich, Chaney, and Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton.
