Henry J. Shetler

    Henry J. Shetler, 86, of Berne, passed away at 2:55 a.m. on Monday, January 7, 2013, at his residence.
    He was born in Adams County on  November 5, 1926, to the late Jacob and Amanda (Hershberger) Shetler.
    Henry married Marie Hilty on November 3, 1949; she survives.
    He was a member of the Old Order Amish and was a minister in the church for 58 years. He was also a farmer.
    He is survived by his son, Melvin (Marie) Shetler of Berne; three brothers, Andy Shetler of Monroe, Val Shetler of Berne, and Mose Shetler of LaGrange; two sisters, Martha Hilty and Fannie Hilty, both of Berne; nine grandchildren, Rhonda (Andy) Hilty, Arlene (Amos) Eicher, Mervin (Mary) Shetler, Norman (Elma) Shetler, Lisa (Paul) Eicher, Stephen Shetler, Rose Marie Shetler, and Melvin Shetler Jr., all of Berne, and Laura (Mose) Hilty of Monroe; and 42 great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by one sister and five brothers.
    Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 8, and from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 9, at his home, 555 W 350 S, Berne. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. on Thursday, January 10, also at his home. Officiating will be Bishop Marvin Hilty.
    Burial will take place at Schwartz Cemetery.
    Arrangements were by Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home in Berne.
