Fifty large cardboard containers were unloaded from a tractor-trailer truck on Monday at New Beginnings Family Center in Decatur as part of Operation Semi, a humanitarian effort to provide food and other products to people in need in the United States. The containers, 22 of which contain toilet paper, were delivered by Global Heart Ministries of Fairfield, Texas. All the items, valued at $38,000, will be made available to needy persons in that area on Saturday, August 13, according to New Beginnings Pastor Rev. Jerry Setser. The previous Operation Semi distribution through the Dayton Ave. church was in 2008.
