Helen L. Wellman

    Helen L. Wellman, 90, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, June 6, 2013, at Adams Memorial Hospital.
    Helen was born in Jay County on October 21, 1922, to the late Jerome and Agnus (Krieg) Wellman.
    She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, where she was in the Women of St. Mary’s. She was a member of Our Lady’s Rosary Makers of Holy Trinity Parish in Bryant, Ind., where she made 3,955 rosaries from 1994-2006. She retired from General Electric and was a member of the G.E. retirees.
    Among survivors are two brothers, Leroy C. (Jean) Wellman of Greenville, Ohio, and Eugene R. (Peg) Wellman of Glendale, Ariz.; two sisters, Doris J. (Greg) Wack of Tucson, Ariz., and Rita Heimann of Decatur; four sisters-in-law, Dorothy Wellman of Fort Wayne, Betty Wellman of Bryant, Sharon Wellman of Decatur, and Sue Wellman of Porter Ranch, Calif.; lifelong friend, Florence Brandyberry of Decatur; and numerous nieces and nephews.
    Helen was preceded in death by seven brothers, Alfred, Jerome, Richard, Francis, James, Carl, and Paul Wellman; and two sisters, Martha Dodd and Edna Hoyng.
    Visitation was held Sunday at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home, with a reciting of the Holy Rosary, and this morning at St. Mary's Parish Hall.
    A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m. today at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Rev. Fr. David Voors presiding
    Burial was in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
    Preferred memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Catholic Church or to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
