Helen J. Meyer, 83, of Decatur, passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2012, at Lutheran Life Villages in FortWayne.
Helen was born on January 23, 1929, in Adams County to the late Florian and Bertha (Ulman) Geimer.
On May 13, 1950, she married Robert E. Meyer.
Helen was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and a longtime member of St. Mary’s Study Club. She was also a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of American Legion and Ladies Fraternal Order of Police as treasurer. She is retired from the State of Indiana as a meat inspector.
Among survivors are her husband, Robert E. Meyer, of Decatur; two sons, David E. (Kathy) Meyer, of Yoder, Ind., and Eric A. “Keebie” (Tammy) Meyer of Decatur; and a daughter, Linda J. (Kent) Daniels, of Decatur; a sister, Naomi Lengerich of Dayton, Ohio; six grandchildren, Nathan and Michael Meyer; Ashley (Meyer) Shifferly; Scott Meyer; Rachael Nowak; and Kristi (Daniels) Lengerich; and two great-grandchildren, Kaylee McCann and Landon Danels.
She was preceded in death by a son, Michael R. Meyer, and two brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 21, from 4-7 p.m., with reciting of the holy rosary at 3:30 at Haggard-Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home.
An 11:20 a.m. prayer service will be held on Thursday, March 22, also at the funeral home, followed by a noon Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church.
Father David Voors will be officiating, with burial to follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
