Recently graduated Bellmont track star Alexis Harvey has been selected to participate in the 39th annual Midwest Men and Women’s Meet of Champions tomorrow at Northrop High School’s Spuller Stadium starting at 12:30 p.m.
Harvey, who holds the Bellmont school record in the 100, 200, and 400 dashes as well as being a member of the record-holding 4x400 relay team, will be a member of the Indiana All-Star squad that will compete against similar teams from Michigan and Ohio. Each state gets the host the Meet of Champions for four years in a row and this is the final year for Indiana to do so.
Bellmont track coach Carl Risch noted that only graduated seniors are eligible to be on the team and that any senior finishing in the top three at the IHSAA state track meet automatically qualifies for the squad. He added that Harvey was actually asked to join the team prior to the state finals due to her outstanding times posted earlier this year.
