Harold B. Miller

    Harold B. Miller, 83, former mayor of Decatur, died at Woodcrest Nursing Center on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013.
    Harold was born on Dec. 30, 1929, in Jay County to the late Perry S. and Fern (Huey) Miller. He married Mary Lou Hofstetter on Oct. 28, 1950. She preceded him in death on Oct. 1, 1995. On March 7, 1998, he married Nancy Pommer, and she survives.
    Harold was the owner of Miller's Meat Market from 1979 - 1993, and he served as the Mayor of Decatur from 1976 - 1988. He was a 50 year member of the Moose, President of the Decatur Little League and a Hall of Fame Bowler in Adams County.
    Among survivors are three sons, Scott Miller, Mike (Jan) Miller and Jeff (Kelley) Miller of Decatur; five daughters, Cheryl Maller of Maumee, Ohio, Linda (Norb) Hess of Edwardsburg, Mich., Janet (Gary) Smith of Decatur, Deb (Rod) Owens of Delaware, Ohio and Patti Miller-Johnson (Gary Ayers) of Roanoke; brother, Perry E. Miller of Union City; 21 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; three step-sons; five step-grandchildren; and 9 step-great grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by four brothers, Howard, Gerald, Larry and Darrel; half brother, Earl; three sisters, Inez Baker, Doris Charleston and Bernice Weigel; and two half sisters, Elma Shanebager and Edna Fogel.
    Visitation will from 1 - 8 p.m. on Saturday at Haggard-Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home and one hour prior to funeral services.
    Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Sunday also at the funeral home with Rev. Randy Rossman officiating. Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery.
    In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to United Way of Adams County.
