Harley L. Bergman

    Harley L. “Pete” Bergman, 77, Decatur, passed away at his residence on Monday, April 16, 2012.
    Harley was born in Jay County on January 21, 1935, to the late Oren and Minnie (Huey) Bergman.
    On January 21, 1964, he married Roberta G. Manning. She preceded him in death on November 2, 2007.
    Harley worked in construction for 37 years for Habegger Construction as a skilled mason.
    Among survivors are five sons, Toney (Deb) Bergman, Rick (Ann) Burkhalter, and Kevin (Missy) Burkhalter, all of Decatur; Tim Bergman of Fort Wayne; and Eddie Bergman of Garrett; three brothers, Junior “Skip” Bergman of Michigan; Herb Bergman of Kentucky; and John Bergman of Monroe; three sisters, Edith Morningstar of Decatur; Mary Bergman of Portland; and Betty Newland of Portland; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
    Visitation will be on Thursday, April 19, from 4-8 p.m., at Haggard-Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home.
    Funeral services will be on Friday, April 20 at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home, with Pastor Daniel Dahling officiating.
    Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery.
    Preferred memorials are to ACCF Angel Cancer Fund or donor’s choice.
