Habitat Home No. 17 has site picked in Berne
Seventeen in '13.
That's the plan and the goal for Habitat for Humanity of Adams County as the organization prepares for its 17th home in the county, which will be built on the southern edge of Berne.
The house will be erected on a concrete slab foundation poured, along with a driveway, at 1425 Colonial Court about seven years ago by Ideal Suburban Homes of Decatur. Ideal recently sold the site to the local Habitat affiliate for $10,000.
The home to be built will follow Ideal's original Ideal floor plan and will have three bedrooms and a two-car garage, but having a larger garage means that Habitat will save about $1,500 by not having to buy a small storage shed.
