Greenway Gallop is scheduled

August 19, 2011

A new event in Decatur this year, part of the Adams County Run/Walk Challenge Series, is the Edward Jones/Kekionga 5K Greenway Gallop, which will be held during the Kekionga Festival and the city's 175th celebration.
The Greenway Gallop will be held on Sunday, August 28, starting at 2 p.m. at the Kekionga encampment behind Riverside Center. Runners will follow an out-and-back trail along the Rivergreenway Trail and finish near the gazebo at Riverside Center.
A news release said the race will be chip-timed to ensure accuracy and access to placements, with awards presented immediately after the race.
Water will be available along the trail and water and post-race snacks will also be provided at the finish line.
Registrations with a $15 fee are being taken at the Decatur Chamber of Commerce. People who register by August 19 and all participants of the Adams County Run/Walk Challenge Series are guaranteed a custom-designed T-shirt. Registrations after that date and on race day will be $18, with no guarantee of a shirt.
