Golden Meadows Home Director Tom Magnan has announced that over the next several weeks, volunteers from Golden Meadows will be contacting Adams County businesses for help in donating a product, service, or gift certificate to its annual auction.
County residents also may donate to the auction, but donations of used clothing will not be accepted, he said.
Golden Meadows' 18th annual auction to benefit the Special Needs Resident Fund will be held on Saturday, June 16. The event will take place on the grounds of Golden Meadows, located at 3646 N. 200 E., in rural Decatur, at 10 a.m.
This is a family-friendly event and will feature many brand-new items and gift certificates from local businesses, out-of-town entities such as professional sport teams, and amusement parks, used merchandise in good condition, and a food tent, according to Magnan.
The money raised from the auction is used to enhance the quality of life for the residents of Golden Meadows. The fund has been used to purchase eyeglasses, dentures, walkers, personal-care items, and other goods and services that are not always covered by insurance or public assistance.
In July of 2009, the money in the fund was used to purchase a used wheelchair lift-van for residents who use wheelchairs or who have mobility difficulties, Magnan noted.
