Godfrey J. Bertsch

    Godfrey J. Bertsch, 79, of Bluffton, passed away Friday morning, September 14, 2012, at Christian Care Retirement Community in Bluffton.
    Born in Adams County to John P. and Leah E. (Rauch) Bertsch, he married Anita C. Lehman in Berne on May 25, 1952; she survives. 
    A member of the Apostolic Christian Church, Mr. Bertsch was a semi-truck driver for 33 years, along with being a farmer in the Adams County area. He was a 1951 graduate of Berne-French High School, and enjoyed fishing.
    Additional survivors include four daughters, Ruth (Harry) Anderson of Geneva; Rebecca “Becky” (Dennis) Caffee of Geneva; Rhonda (Eric) Tonner of Bluffton; and Roxanne (Jeff) Roop of Berne; one son, Robert (Brenda) Bertsch of Greenfield; one sister, Elizabeth Schwartz of Bluffton; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. 
    Visitation were held Sunday, September 16, 2012, at Goodwin Memorial Chapel in Bluffton, from 1-8 p.m.  Services will be held Monday, September 17, at 10:30 a.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church East, with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the church.  Burial will be at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery.
    Memorial contributions may be given to Christian Care Retirement Community or Family LifeCare of Berne.
