Glen Strahm

    Glen D. Strahm, 81 of Monroe, passed away at his residence on Sunday, August 11, 2013.
    Glen was born June 20, 1932, in Adams County to the late Sylvan and Lydia (Brunner) Strahm.
    On August 23, 1952, he married Elizabeth "Betsy" Johnston; she survives in Monroe.
    Glen was a member of St. Luke Community Church where he was involved as an elder, deacon and trustee. Glen was a farmer and mechanic for Reisen & Smith Chrysler, Walt's Motor Sales and John's Auto Sales.
    He was also a member of the Wheels of Yesterday, the Maumee Valley Antique Steam and Gas Association, the Old-Fashioned Farmers Association of Van Wert, the Tri-State Engine Club and the Brown County Antique Machinery Association, National Massey Collectors Association and the Indiana Massey Collectors Association.
    He served his country in the United States Army.
    Among survivors are his son, Larry (Karen) Strahm of Canton, Mich.; daughter, Kathy (Lucie Carmichael) Strahm of South Burlington, Vt.; sister, Velma (Jim) Weaver of Monroe and two grandchildren, Lauren and Jordyn Strahm.
    Glen was preceded in death by an infant sister.
    Visitation will be Thursday, August 15, from 2-8 p.m. at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the church.
    Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, August 16, at St. Luke Community Church. Pastor Mike Wertenberger will be officiating.
    Burial will be in St. Luke Cemetery with military graveside rites by American Legion Post 43 Colored Guard.
    Preferred memorials are to St. Luke Church or Family Life Care-Hospice.
