Gerhard Kiefer

    Gerhard Kiefer, 94, of Ossian, formerly of Decatur, passed away at 6:20 a.m. on Saturday, December 11, 2010, in Ossian Health Care.
    He was born on October 23, 1916, in Adams County to Martin and Clara (Wietfeldt) Kiefer.
    He married Hildegard Bultemeier on May 14, 1950, in St. John’s Lutheran Church at Bingen; she preceded him death on May 14, 2007.
    He is survived by his daughter, Colleen (David) Franklin of Warren, Indiana; a brother, Gilbert Kiefer of Peoria, Arizona; and a sister, LaVera Schroeder of Columbia City.
    He was also preceded in death by a son, Keith A. Kiefer; three brothers, Art, Elmer, and Ervin Kiefer; and one sister, Elda Schuller.
    Gerhard was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church, Friedheim, in rural Decatur.
    He was a lifelong farmer and also worked for and retired from Wayne Novelty Co. in Decatur.
    Visitation is 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 15, 2010, at Haggard and Sefton Funeral Home, Decatur.
    A 10:15 a.m. prayer service will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2010, at Haggard and Sefton Funeral Home, followed by an 11 a.m. funeral service at Zion Lutheran Church, Friedheim. Co-officiating will be Pastor Daniel F. Dahling and Pastor Otto A. Brillinger.
    Burial will take place in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Friedheim.
    Memorials may be made to the Expansion Fund at Zion Lutheran Church, Friedheim, or to Pastor Brillinger’s Mission Fund.
