Gaynel I. Lankenau

    Gaynel I. Lankenau, 75, of Castle Rock, Colorado, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday November 2, 2010.
    Gaynel was born on August 2, 1935, in Decatur. She was preceded in death by her parents.
    She attended Indiana University and graduated from the University of Northern Colorado.  Gaynel began her music teaching career in 1959 with the Douglas County Schools. She was still teaching at Arapahoe Community College at the time of her death.
    She was also the music teacher and choir director for Douglas County High School for 32 years.
    Gaynel is survived by her longtime friend, Rosemary Metzler of Castle Rock; her sisters, Gretchen (Tom) Ehler of Sidney, Ohio, and Alyce (Bob) Bogan of Decatur; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 6, 2010, at Christ’s Episcopal Church in Castle Rock.
    Memorials may be made in Gaynel’s name to Christ’s Episcopal Church Music Ministry, Castle Rock, Colorado.
    Graveside services will be held at Decatur Cemetery on Saturday, November 13, 2010, at 1:30 p.m., followed by a reception at Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur.
    Arrangements are being handled by Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home.
