Fuelling named to MAC volleyball squads
MUNCIE—Former Bellmont High School volleyball standout Alex Fuelling was honored recently as she was named to the Mid-American Conference first team in a vote of MAC coaches.
The daughter of Eric and Leesa Fuelling of Decatur, Alex originally went to Moorhead State University to play her college volleyball but then transferred to Ball State after one year at the Kentucky school. She was redshirted her sophomore year due to transferring to the Muncie campus but her statistics this year for Coach Steve Shondell's team show her volleyball skills continue to shine.
Fuelling is an outside hitter for Ball State and recorded a team-high 350 kills this year in 32 matches, was tops in points scored with 400.5, was second on the team in digs with 316 and third on the squad in service aces with 29. She knocked out a serving percentage of .898 and added 28 assists. Defensively, she recorded eight solo blocks and had 27 assisted blocks.
Fuelling first played on the John Worthen Arena court as a player for Bellmont when the Squaws won their second state finals championship there.
