Friedt, Baumgartner are champs

    Caden Friedt at 95-pound Intermediate and Bryce Baumgartner in the Novice 120-pound division recently took state championships for the Decatur Wrestling Club at the Indiana State Wrestling Association Folkstyle Tournament, held over two weekends.
    Baumgartner also competed nationally and took second place in his weight class in the tourney held recently in Iowa. Bryce, who has won national titles in prior years, lost the title match just 4-3. It was his only loss in the tourney.
    In the Junior Division in the Indiana tourney, Ben Baker took fifth in his class and Dewey Melcher placed sixth.
    Also qualifying and competing in the ISWA State Folkstyle meet from the DWC were: Isaac Ruble, Jon Ruble, Carter Thomas, Skylar Douglas, Trevor Gray, Mason Mendez, Jordan Amacker, Tony Busse and Brad Busse.
    Several Decatur Wrestling Club grapplers competed in area tourneys.
    At Huntington, Jon Ruble and Caden Friedt, in the Intermediate division, took titles while Carter Friedt was second in Schoolboy. Skyler Douglas added a second in the Novice while Isaac Ruble earned a fifth-place ribbon in Bantam.
    In an earlier meet at Yorktown,, Caden Friedt earned a first and Bantam wrestler Austin Christner took a second place.
    Kobe Baker took second and Austin Christner third at Leo in the Bantam division.
    In a meet at Penn, Intermediates Jon Ruble took third and Skyler Douglas fourth.
    Mason Myers earned first in the Pee Wee Division at Norwell recently while Brooks Myers won a title in the Bantam division. Skylar Douglas took first in the Novice Division.
    Also at Norwell, Austin Christner took third and Isaac Ruble second in Bantam divisions. Jon Ruble was second in intermediate.
    Austin Christner added a Bantam first place in a meet at Carroll.
