Frieda Herderhorst

    Frieda Herderhorst, 96, of Decatur, passed away at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2012, in the Woodcrest Nursing Center. 
    Frieda was a longtime resident of Monroeville and had been a resident of the Woodcrest Garden Apartments since 2009.
    Frieda was born on Monday, August 9, 1915, in Adams County, the daughter of the late Edward and Elise (Franke) Busick. 
    She married the late Edwin J. Herderhorst on December 6, 1941, in St. Peter Lutheran Church, Fuelling; he passed away on May 21, 1988.
    Frieda was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Flatrock, in rural Monroeville, where she had been a member of the Ladies Aid of the church and a former member of the Altar Guild. She had also been a member of the Hoagland Area Advancement Association.
    Frieda was a homemaker and had worked as a cook at Heritage High School for 15 years.
    Among survivors are her nieces, Mrs. LaVerne Boerger of Decatur; Mrs. Jerry (Janice) Mishler of Decatur; Mrs. Janet Putman of St. Mary's, Ohio; Mrs. James (Joyce) Gariepy of Decatur; and Mrs. Susan Hoffman of Monroeville; nephews, Dale (Leanne) Busick of Decatur; Don (Joan) Busick of Decatur; Kenneth (Sophia) Busick of Decatur; and Kenneth (Janet) Hoffman of Monroeville.
    She was preceded in death by four brothers, Alfred, Lester, Herbert, and Carl Busick; and two nephews, Carl Busick and Fred L. Hoffman.
    Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, in Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
    Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 31, at St. John Lutheran Church, Flatrock, with Rev. Douglas Christian officiating. 
    Burial will follow in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Flatrock.
