Freezing rain which hit the Decatur area around 5 a.m. today closed schools and caused some slideoffs, including a traffic accident which closed US 27 north of Berne for nearly two hours.
The freezing rain left a hard coat of ice over city streets and county roads, but the hazardous driving wasn't expected to last too long with a high reading of 44 degrees expected in Decatur today.
The sheriff's department said at 8:45 a.m. that two vehicles were involved in a crash around 6:15 a.m. at US 27 and 400 South. The highway was closed until approximately 7:50 a.m.
