Frederick W. Kukelhan
Frederick W. Kukelhan, 81, of Decatur, passed away on Monday, October 15, 2012, at his residence.
He was born in Adams County on Tuesday, June 9, 1931, to the late Fred W. and Marie (Schueler) Kukelhan.
Frederick was married to Carol Ann Adam; she passed away on February 13, 1978.
He served his country in the United States Army as a paratrooper during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church-Fuelling, and was a self-employed dairy farmer, retiring about seven years ago.
Among survivors are three sons, Grant (Laura) Kukelhan, Gregg (Allison) Kukelhan, and Jonathan Kukelhan, all of Decatur; two daughters, Myra (Leroy) Peters and Dian (Mark) Witte, both of Decatur; a brother, Walter (Lorna) Kukelhan of Decatur; four sisters, Emma Lou Stegmann of Ossian; Virginia "Ginny" Hoffman of Van Wert, Ohio; Dorothy (Clarence) Oetting of Fort Wayne; and Alice Bauermeister of Ossian; a sister-in-law, Gladys Kukelhan of Decatur; and a brother-in-law, Eugene Hill of Pleasant Mills; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by Carol Ann's family, including two sisters-in-law, Arlene (Jake) Widenhoefer-Bruick of New Haven and Donna (Eugene) Myers of Ossian; and a brother-in-law, Marty (Lynn) Adam of Ossian.
He was preceded in death by a son, Guy Kukelhan; daughter, Julie Kukelhan, two brothers, Elmer (Sally) Kukelhan and Albert Kukelhan; sister, Betty Hill; sister-in-law, Geraldine Smith; and five brothers-in-law, John Smith, Norbert Bauermeister, Howard Hoffman, Walter Stegmann and Eldor Widenhoefer.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 18, at St. Peter Lutheran Church-Fuelling, with Rev. Martin Moehring officiating.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time on Thursday at the church.
Burial will follow in the St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery, Fuelling.
Preferred memorials are to St. Peter Lutheran Church-Fuelling; Worship for Shut-ins; or St. Peter Immanuel Lutheran School.
