Frederick P. Coffee
Frederick P. "Fred" Coffee, 88, of Fort Wayne, died suddenly at 1:26 p.m. Sunday at home of natural causes.
He was born on August 16, 1923, in Adams County to Adrian Henry and Mary Elizabeth Lobsiger Coffee.
He married Patricia E. Kintz on May 10, 1947, in Fort Wayne; she died on September 6, 2005.
Fred and his wife owned Graphic Typesetters for 25 years and Gensic Creative Metals for several years.
Fred was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Fort Wayne, American Legion Post 333 in Fort Wayne, and the Navy Club in New Haven. He attended annual reunions with fellow members of the VT 85 Squadron.
He won a Purple Heart as a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a graduate of Decatur Catholic High School.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. David (Sandra) Jump of New Haven; Mrs. Greg (Jeannine) Moyer of Columbia City; and Susan Fletter, Mrs. Christopher (Janet) Carey, and Mrs. Daniel (Kathleen) Lomont, all of Fort Wayne; one brother, Gary Coffee (and wife Jane) of Fort Wayne; one sister-in-law, Sandy Coffee of Fort Wayne; 18 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, Tom and Lou Coffee, and one sister, Phyllis Jean Eichhorn, are deceased.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, November 11, 2011, in D.O. McComb and Sons Funeral Home, Fort Wayne, with Jeff Lemler as the certified funeral celebrant.
Interment of his ashes will occur at a later date in Catholic Cemetery of Fort Wayne.
Visiting hours are 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, November 10, 2011, in D.O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, Fort Wayne.
Preferred memorials are to the Disabled American Veterans.
