Food bank broke

October 25, 2010

Mary Jo Toole

Decatur Operation Help, a food bank in use in the northern half of Adams County since 1983, will close Tuesday and Friday, the days it is normally open.
Operation Help President Mary Jo Toole said the closure is necessary since the site is out of food and out of money. Toole said she hopes more of each will arrive in the following week.
One problem, she noted, is that deliveries of government commodities have been delayed.
Toole reported that 25 families were assisted by Operation Help last Friday and that the site aided 125 families in September and 172 families in August. In March of this year, she said, Operation Help assisted 183 families, which amounted to 592 people.
