The victory gives Adams Central their first sectional title since their 2000-01 season when the Jets were only in 1A. This year's squad gives AC their first title while in 2A and only the Jets' second since classes were formed in Indiana earning them a right to play against Westview this Saturday at North Judson in regional action.
Bishop Luers came out of the gate hot hitting their first three shots, all three-pointers, to give them a 9-6 edge early, but the Jets would come storming back scoring the quarter's final 11 points and keeping the Knights off the scoreboard for the final five minutes of the quarter to put them up 17-9 after the first break.
"We stepped up at the right time and hit some shots," Baumer commented after the game.
Combs, who had 22 in the game, had 10 of his points in that first frame including back-to-back threes that put the Jets up 14-9 where they would lead for the rest of the game. Junior Isaac Luginbill came off the bench in the middle of the Jets' run at the end of the first and made a terrific pass to a wide open Keaton Fiechter for a lay-up, Fiechter's only points of the game.
