First event hailed as a big success

April 3, 2013

Decatur's first sculpture walk, held last year, was designed in part to attract people to the community, and it was highly successful. With the changes unveiled at Tuesday night's city council meeting, an even larger turnout is highly likely this year.
"From a business standpoint, it brought a lot of people to town (last year). It was very impressive," Councilman Matt Dyer said.
"it was a huge success," Mayor John Schultz added. 'It was something which was really good for the community."
Schultz also gave considerable credit for the success of the first venture to Greg Mendez, a local sculpture artist who has works in other areas of the country as well as in Decatur. "Without Greg's leadership, this might not have happened," the mayor pointed out.
