Firm brings a ‘Fresh New Start’ to Decatur

May 8, 2014

A company which provides in-home services to the developmentally disabled is planning to construct a training facility in Decatur and city council was asked at its Tuesday night meeting to provide a five-year tax abatement on the real estate.
Local attorney Jeremy Brown, representing the firm, told council Fresh New Start traces its beginnings to 1979 when founder Sharlene Wetendorf started a business to provide those services. The company has grown considerably since that time and now has some 190 employees in the northeast and northern areas of Indiana. More than 30 of those employees are with the firm’s base in Decatur, at 415 S. 13th St., across from Barker Wrecker Service.
