The South Adams school board, meeting last week in regular session, approved the adoption of a Fire and Rescue Career and Technical Education pilot class for the 2014-15 school year. Geneva firefighter Art Booth had approached high school principal Trent Lehman last spring concerning the possibility of offering such a class through South Adams Schools, to be taught at the Geneva fire station.
Commenting on the possibility of offering the class, Auto Tech Instructor Gary McMillan stated, “I think it’ll go over big. Everyone wants to be a fireman.” The class, which will cost $450 per credit hour with two credit hours per class, will begin in the fall of 2014.
