Preble Assistant Fire Chief Mike Werling said Wednesday that upon arriving at Tuesday night's fire that destroyed a barn on the Richard Loshe property off Winchester Rd. at CR 900N, fire was blazing through the roof of the structure.
The barn was filled with building materials and firewood, and some rabbits also were lost. Loshe raises rabbits.
The Decatur and Poe-Hoagland departments provided assistance and tanker trucks to help battle the blaze. Werling stated that six, 2,000- gallon tanker trucks were used and refilled twice, while two or three others were filled a third time as well.
Crews were still on the scene at 9 a.m. Wednesday morning and Werling said they would likely be there throughout the day clearing debris and dousing hotspots. Preble firefighters had been dispatched around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.
    There were no injuries.
No possible cause had been determined by Wednesday.
