Final meeting emotional for retiring chief

    Warmth, friendliness and sincere praise filled council chambers Tuesday night as the city administration, Decatur council and department heads bid farewell to retiring Police Chief Ken Ketzler, attending his final council meeting as chief.
    “We say thanks, but I don’t think we can say that enough,” Mayor John Schultz said prior to the reading of a resolution filled with appreciation and praise for Ketzler.
    Ketzler’s last day on the job will be June 27. It was announced at the meeting an open house will be held from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. that day at Riverside Center. “Come have lunch, reminisce and wish Ken well in his retirement,” Deputy Chief Greg Cook said. It was also noted that well wishes may be sent to: decaturpd@decaturin.org.
