Ferdinand Selking, 83, Decatur, passed away at 3:40 a.m. Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, in Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Ferd was born in Adams County Tuesday, May 5, 1931, to the late Henry and Sene (Thieme) Selking. He married Carol Kurtz Aug. 31, 1958, in St. John Lutheran Church, Lake Township, in Allen County.
Ferd was a lifelong farmer and was employed for 24 years at Navistar in Fort Wayne. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church-Preble.
Among survivors are his wife of 56 years, Carol Selking of Decatur; sons, Gary Selking of Decatur and Terry Selking of Fort Wayne; daughter, Sandra (Mike) Stutz of Tampa, Fla.; brothers, Reinhard “Reiny” (Mariann) Selking of Decatur and Albert (Elsie) Selking of Fort Wayne; and two grandchildren, Aaron and Amber Stutz.
Preceding Ferd in death were one sister, Alma Jones; and one brother, Gerhard Selking.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church - Preble, with Rev. Dr. Daniel J. Brege officiating. Internment will follow in the church cemetery.
Friends will be received from 3-5 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
