The Adams County Spelling Bee was held at South Adams High School Tuesday night. A crowd of about 30 people turned out for the competition, which saw Jadon Evans, an eighth grader at Adams Central Middle School, emerge as champion.
After six rounds, the competition was down to Evans, and Ashley Rhoades, an eighth grader at South Adams Middle School.
Ashley misspelled "congratulations" and Jadon correctly spelled "stratification" and "cooperate," per the rules of the final elimination round, to win the bee.
Evans will go on to compete in the Regional Spelling Bee on March 9 in the Rhinehart Center at IPFW.
The other participants included Natalie Dicke, sixth grade, Wyneken; Saige Jauregui, eighth grade, Zion; Zoe Egly, fifth grade, Adams Central Elementary; Hannah Rhoades, fifth grade, South Adams Elementary; Evan Birch, eighth grade, St. Joseph Middle; Lydia Roop, fifth grade, Bellmont Middle; Zachary Pettibone, fifth grade, St. Joseph Elementary; and Madison Neher, seventh grade, St. Peter Immanuel.
