Eulogia Serna

    Eulogia "Logie" Adalpe Serna, 78, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2011, at Woodcrest Retirement Community's Nursing Center in Decatur.
     Logie was born on March 11, 1933, in Pearsall Texas.
    She was married to Jesus Zavala Serna for 64 years, wedded on May 13, 1947, in Crystal City Texas.
    Logie was a homemaker and was very involved in the community.  She was a member of First Baptist Church in Decatur and its Mothers' Study Club.
    She also served on the Adams County Democratic Election Board.
    She was active in Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts for many years and served as a volunteer for several years at Adams Memorial Hospital, Lakeside Manor, and Golden Meadows Home.
    Logie was preceded in death by her parents, Gil Adalpe and Paulina Realme Adalpe, and daughter Martha Serna.
    She is survived by her husband, Jesus “Jesse” Serna, and their children: Angelita (Roger) Bittner, Jesse (Clara) Serna III, Daniel Serna, John (Vicki) Serna, Diana Sanner, and Arthur (Heather) Serna; along with 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. 
    According to Logie's wishes, a small family service was held on Saturday, June 25, at Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur.
    A private burial of ashes service will be held at a later date at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetary in Decatur.
    Memorial contributions in her name can be made to The Diabetes Association, to Shriners hospitals, or to Family Hospice and Palliative Care of Northeast Indiana, in Berne.
