Ethel M. Hamrick, 90, of Decatur, passed away at 3:05 p.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2012, in the Woodcrest Nursing Center.
Ethel was born on Tuesday, January 31, 1922, in Carlsrew, Illinois, the daughter of the late George T. and Calley (Gross) Adams.
She married Charles E. Hamrick, of Decatur, on September 1, 1951; he survives.
Ethel was a member of the Cornerstone Community Church in Decatur and was a former member of the Decatur Missionary Church. She enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her hobbies were gardening and sewing.
Ethel retired from Ferris Bowers Jewelry after 22 years of service.
Among survivors are her sons, David A. (Linda) Hamrick of Marion, Ohio; Dale E. (Marie) Hamrick of New Haven; daughters, Judith A. (Mark) Masterson of Beaver Creek, Ohio; Joyce K. Giltrap of Knoxville, Tenn.; sisters, Ina Friedt of Decatur; Reva Davis of Fairborn, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Sarah (Byron) Dickey; Zachary (Amy) Hamrick; Dan (Stephanie) Hamrick; Aaron Hamrick; April (Steve) Carson; Justin (Meryl) Masterson; Mandy (Michael) Rogers; and Jon Masterson; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ida Brodbeck and Lorine Caskey, and four brothers, George Jr, William, Orlan, and Jesse Adams.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, in Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 31, in Cornerstone Community Church with Rev. Floyd Vieth and Rev. Ken Hogg officiating.
Burial will follow in the Decatur Cemetery.
