Esther P. Young

    Esther P. Young, 88, Bryant, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2014, at Chalet Village in Berne.
    She was born Sunday, Oct. 18, 1925, in Adams County, the daughter of the late Herbert and Ethel (Evans) Dailey. 
    She married her husband of 69 years, Harold Young, Oct. 30, 1944; he survives.
    Esther was a former member of the Women of the Moose in Portland. She loved to do anything outdoors.
  She retired in 1988 from CTS in Berne with 22 years of service.
  Survivors include a daughter, Sharon (Bill) Michael of Bluffton; a son, Jerry (Louise) Young of Bluffton; a sister, Marcella (Ben) Sipe of Geneva; five grandchildren, Kimberly Rawe, Jeri Schindler, William “Chub” Michael, Brenda Melick and Charles Michael; 11 great-grandchildren; and one step great-grandchild.
    Preceding Esther in death were four brothers and six sisters.
    Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, with Chaplain Chris Thurow officiating. Internment will follow in the Willshire Cemetery.
    Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
    Preferred memorials are to the Alzheimer’s Association or Family LifeCare in Berne.
