Esther Erxleben

    Esther Erxleben, 89, of Decatur, died at 5:25 p.m. Tuesday in Adams Memorial Hospital.
    She was born on August 6, 1921, in Adams County to Fred and Lizzie Meier Bulmahn.
    She married Lorenz Erxleben on May 2, 1943, in St. John Lutheran Church at Bingen; he passed away on August 17, 1986.
    She was a homemaker, a former employee of Wayne Novelty Co. in Decatur, the fastest tomato peeler at the Decatur Canning Factory, a former worker at Preble Hatchery, and an active participant in running the family farm
    She was a member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Decatur.
    Surviving are one son, Phillip L. Erxleben (and wife Sally) of Decatur; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Janice) Swygart of Decatur; two grandchildren, Eliza and Shane Erxleben; seven great-grandchildren, T.J. Warren, Elise Warren, Lacy Warren, Sam Hirschy, Taylor Erxleben, Kiara Erxleben, and Lorenz Conrad; and two great-great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Kedron Hill and Missy Loshe; one great-great-granddaughter; one sister, Paula Bulmahn; and three brothers, Raymond, Ted, and Hugo Bulmahn.
    Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, with Rev. Jonathan Neipp officiating.
    Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery.
    Visiting hours are 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Friday and 9-10 a.m. Saturday in Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home.
    Preferred memorials are to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church or to the donor's choice.
