Ervin C. Christner

    Ervin C. Christner, 71, Berne, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at his residence.
    He was born on May 25, 1942, in Adams County to the late Alvin S. and Caroline (Schwartz) Christner. He married Elizabeth M. Girod; she survives.
    Ervin was an Old Order Amish and a retired carpenter.
    He is survived by seven sons, Stephen (Elnora) Christner, Ervin (Rhoda) Christner, Menno (Emma) Christner, Enos (Rosina) Christner, Benjamin (Susann) Christner, all of Monroe and Alvin (Elizabeth) Christner of Berne and Jerry (Rose) Christner of Decatur; four daughters, Maryann (Ernie) Girod and Lizzie (Menno) Schwartz, both of Monroe, Caroline (Jacob) Schwartz and Susan (Sam) Schwartz, both of Berne; 76 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Christner.
    Visitation will be from 2:30-9 p.m. on Thursday and from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. on Friday at the Ervin C. Christner residence, 6310 S. 200 E., Berne.
    Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday also at the residence. Burial will be at Schwartz Cemetery.
    Arrangements are being handled by Haggard-Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home.
