Ernest "Ernie" Eugene Gerardot, 50, of Carmel, passed away shortly after 4 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2012, at St. Vincent’s Hospice, Indianapolis, after losing his five-month battle with cancer.
Ernie was born January 9, 1962, in Fort Wayne, the seventh of 11 children born to Leonard S. and Aleta R. (Singer) Gerardot.
He grew up in Monroeville and graduated from Heritage High School in 1980. He graduated from Ball State University in 1984 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
He was employed at NTS Development in Carmel for the past five and a half years; had previously owned his own business, Gerardot Graphics, working as a graphic designer for Lincoln Life.
Ernie had also served as a Little League Coach for the Monroeville "Pills" team in earlier years.
Surviving are his nine siblings, Jeanne M. Koch of Harlan; Lois A. (Neil) Ternet of Monroeville; Joyce L. (Steve) Seward of Fort Wayne; Jill B. (Daryll) Averyhart of Columbia, S.C.; Mary E. (Tom Wermuth) Gerardot of Fort Wayne; Jane G. (Dave) Ward of Kendallville; Lisa K. (Rob) Sefranek of Montgomery, Ill.; Mark C. (Jennair) Gerardot of Greer, S.C.; and Barry A. (Jana) Gerardot of Leo; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Nora Orr.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements were made by Aaron-Ruben-Nelson Meridian Hills Mortuary, 1328 W. 86th St., Indianapolis.
