Emma S. Girod

    Emma S. Girod, 95, Fort Wayne, died Sunday at 9:15 p.m. at her residence.
    She was the daughter of Samuel J. and Elizabeth Ann (Miller) Christner. She was married on January 18, 1940, to John S. Girod, who preceded her in death on March 5, 2002.
    She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. John F. (Elizabeth) Schwartz, Mrs. Josephine Yoder, Mrs. Walter F. (Miriam) Schwartz, Mrs. David E. (Lovina) Wickey, all of rural Berne, and Mrs. Sam E. (Edna) Schwartz, rural Monroe; five sons, Sam J. of rural Geneva, Levi J. and Mark J. of rural Monroe, and Reuben J. and Nathan J. of rural Berne; one brother, Alvin S. Christner of rural Berne; three sisters, Mrs. Edna S. Schwartz, rural Hamilton; Mrs. Sylvia S. Eicher, rural Geneva; and Mrs. Ida S. Lengacher, rural Harlan; 99 grandchildren, 333 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
    She was preceded in death by two brothers, Cletus S. and Levi S. Christner, and three sons in infancy.
    Visitation will be held at her residence at 6737S-75E, Berne, on Tuesday from noon-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 9 a.m. at the residence. Burial will be in Schwartz Cemetery.
    Funeral arrangements are by Haggard-Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home.
