Emma K. Burkart

    Emma K. “Kate” Burkhart, 90, Decatur, died Friday, May 30, 2014, at Adams Memorial Hospital.
    She was born April 6, 1924, in Geneva, to the late Edward and Myrtle (Fogle) Fennig.
    She married Lester Burkhart on April 6, 1947; he preceded her in death May 7, 2012.
    Emma was a member of Zion United Church of Christ where she served on the Women’s Guild. She was a homemaker and worked at General Electric in Decatur and C.T.S. in Berne.
    She is survived by a son, Gary (Deborah L.) Burkhart of Monroe; a daughter, Lisa L. Kempa of Carmel; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.    

    She was preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters.
    Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. today at Haggard-Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home with visitation prior from 2– 4 p.m.
    Officiating will be Rev. Randy Rossman.
    Burial will take place in West Lawn Cemetery in Geneva.
    Preferred memorials may be made to Evergreen Assisted Living Activities.
