Elizabeth P. Gass

    Elizabeth P. “Pat” Gass, 79, Decatur, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, at Lutheran Hospital.
    Pat was born March 3, 1934, in Adams County, daughter of the late Clifford J. and Opal M. (Cook) Hess.
    She married John S. (Steve) Gass Sept. 1, 1956; he preceded her in death July 18, 1997.
    Pat was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and its Rosary Society. She was part owner of E.F. Gass Ladies Wear in Decatur.
    Pat is survived by a son, Steve (Michelle) Gass; four daughters, Becky (Ron) Darling, Stephanie Kohne, Jenny (Jeffrey) Sheets and Theresa (Doug) Nelson; a sister Sheri (Ted) Mankey and a brother Allen (Connie) Hess, all of Decatur; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, one due in May.
    She was preceded in death by two brothers, one in infancy and Donald Hess.
    A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church with Father Stephen Colchin officiating.
    Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
    Visitation will be from 12-4 p.m. Sunday at Haggard-Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home, with reciting of the Holy Rosary at 4 p.m. and one hour prior to service at the church.
    Preferred memorials are to St. Joseph School or St. Mary’s Building on our Heritage.
