Elisa V. Juarez

    Elisa V. Juarez, 90, Decatur, passed away Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at Woodcrest Nursing Center.
    She was born Oct. 5, 1923, in Britton, Texas to the late Issac and Ramona (Farfan) Vergara. She married the late Francisco Juarez on Nov. 9, 1961. He died on July 10, 1975.
    Elisa was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and its Hispanic Society. She was a homemaker and also worked as a surgical tech in Brownsville, Texas.
    She is survived by a daughter, Maria (David) Diaz, Decatur; two grandchildren, Alejandro and Victoria Diaz; and a step-grandson, David Anthony Diaz.
    She was preceded in death by a son, Edward Juarez; three brothers, Jesus, Apolonio and Serapio Vergara; and a sister Gloria Cordova.
    Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Haggard-Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home with reciting of the Holy Rosary at 3:30 p.m.
    A prayer Service will be held  at 9:20 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church with Father Patrick Joseph officiating.
    burial will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
    Preferred memorials are to St. Mary's Building on Heritage.
