Eldon L. Caley

    Eldon L. Caley, 93, formerly of Markle, passed away at 12:50 a.m. on Sunday, January 23, 2011, at Coventry Meadows Health and Rehabilitation Center in Fort Wayne.
    He was a 1935 graduate of West Union High School and a farmer for 45 years in Wells and Huntington counties.
    He was Sunday School superintendent and teacher as well as a missionary chairman and an elder at Markle Church of Christ for over 30 years. He also was a former director of the Markle Cemetery Association.
    He was born on February 23, 1917, in Huntington County, the son of Harley and Clara (Heaston) Caley.
    He was united in marriage to Evelyn Shriner on June 19, 1937, in Huntington County. She preceded him in death on January 19, 1997. He married Jannette Hartman on April 18, 1998, in Markle.
    Survivors include his wife, Jannette Caley of Markle; a son, Robert D. (Gaye) Caley of Huntington; a daughter, Jan (Jon) L’hommedieu of Fort Wayne; a stepdaughter, Janet Hartman of Brewster, Massachusetts; 14 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn (Shriner) Caley; two sisters, Eunice Bright and Elma Kitt; a grandson, Timothy; a daughter-in-law, Helen (Payne) Caley; and a stepson, Dick Hartman.
    Visitation will be on Friday, January 28, 2011, from 2-8 p.m. at Myers Funeral Home's Markle Chapel, 415 N. Lee St.
    Services will be on Saturday, January 29, 2011, at 10:30 a.m., with one hour of visitation prior to the service at Markle Church of Christ, 455 E. Morse St., with Gerald O. Moreland and Brian Lakin officiating.
    Interment will be at Markle Cemetery.
