Edward W. Miller

    Edward W. Miller, 86, of Decatur, died at his residence on Monday, June 18, 2012.
    He was born on October 9, 1925, in Fort Wayne, to the late Rollen and Edna (Lemler) Miller.
    Edward married Rita A. Mattes on April 15, 1950; she preceded him in death in March 2000.
    Edward was self-employed as a Mechanic. He served in WW II and the Korean Conflict in the United States Navy and Marine Corps. He was a member of the St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church.
    Among survivors are a daughter, Judy (Kent) Buesching of Fort Wayne; two sons, Kevin E. Miller of Monroeville and Dan W. (Judy) Miller of Decatur; five grandchildren, Janet, John, Andrea, Nick and Daniel; and seven great-grandchildren.
    He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Jack and Richard Miller.
    Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, June 22, at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home, with reciting of the Holy Rosary at 3:30.
    A 9:20 a.m. prayer service will be held Saturday, June 23, also at the funeral home, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. Father David Voors will be officiating.
    Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, with military graveside rites by the American Legion Post 43 Color Guard.
    Preferred memorials are to Women of St. Mary’s.
