Edward Hockemeyer, 89, of Monroeville, died at 3:35 p.m. Saturday in The Village of Heritage nursing home in Monroeville.
He was born on August 15, 1921, in Allen County to William F. and Clara Thieme Hockemeyer.
He married Catherine M. Springer on September 17, 1944; she passed away on March 4, 2010.
He was a lifelong farmer and a member of St. John Lutheran Church (Flatrock).
The family would like to thank the staff at The Village of Heritage in Monroeville for seven years of loving care to Edward.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. David (Sharon A.) Schlaudroff of Hoagland; three sons, Duane E. Hockemeyer (and wife Verna) of Monroeville; Robert A. Hockemeyer (and wife Julie) of Monroeville; and Carl L. Hockemeyer (and wife Diane) of Wolcottville; one sister, Arnita Schroeder of Hoagland; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Elvira Fuelling and Lorinda Koeneman.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. John Lutheran Church (Flatrock), with Rev. Douglas M. Christian officiating.
Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery (Flatrock).
Visiting hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and 10-11 a.m. Wednesday in St. John Lutheran Church (Flatrock).
Preferred memorials are to St. John Lutheran Church (Flatrock) or to The Village of Heritage nursing home.
